Western Sizzlin Steakhouse was originally founded in February of 1962 by Nicholas Pascarella. He was traveling around the United States in search of cheap land on which to build a steakhouse, and he stopped in Augusta because of a flat tire. It was the employees at the tire store who convinced him to set up his restaurant in Augusta.
Thomas "Tommy" Cliett came to Rocky Mount, North Carolina from Brunswick, Georgia with his wife and two children because of a dream. He frequented the Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Brunswick, Georgia often and decided he would visit the Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Augusta, Georgia and speak with Nick Pascarella to find out how to open his own store. He knew he could make it happen. After searching through a couple different states for a location, Tommy came, along with his wife and two small children, to North Carolina. He opened Western Sizzlin Steakhouse #91 in December of 1973.
Tommy passed away on December 31, 2013 and his legacy still lives on. Western Sizzlin of Rocky Mount just celebrated our 50th Anniversary, and is still owned and operated by the Cliett family.
